Envy Consumes

Something green,
like envy clawing,
gripping at my neck,
placing his bet
against me.
It’s eyes grow dark
to depth of night
as they pierce
like cold knives
through my skin.
Penetrate the innocence within.
Ripping at what’s left,
my red beating chest
from coal to ashes.
Dust.
Empty cave,
fills with rage.
Having everything is never enough.
